Doctors remove 28kg tumour which filled a WHEELBARROW from woman diagnosed as being obese

Doctors in Germany say they have successfully removed a 28 kilogram tumour big enough to fill a wheelbarrow from a 60-year-old woman.
The woman, named as Irmtraud Eichler, had previously been diagnosed as obese after piling on weight as the tumour attached to her ovary rapidly grew.
Doctors prescribed a course of anti-obesity medicine to combat Ms Eichler's alarming weight gain, but when the swelling left her barely able to stand, her daughter insisted on a second opinion and an ultrasound scan revealed the growing tumour.

Surgeons from the University Clinic in the eastern city of Dresden spent seven hours removing the tumour - which measured 60 centimetres by 50 centimetres - along with Ms Eichler's uterus, ovaries and thyroid.
The patient is 40 kilograms lighter following the operation and described herself as 'super happy'.

Surgery: The so-called borderline tumor had grown on her ovaries. It was malignant but not extremely aggressive, as a specialist for oncological gynaecology stated
A spokesman for the hospital said the 60-year-old had made a full recovery and was now able to walk again with the aid of crutches following the removal of the tumour, which was described as 'borderline' - meaning it was neither benign nor especially malignant.
'I cannot thank the doctors enough, I am a new person,' Ms Eichler told local news agency DPA.
