Pregnant teen suing parents to prevent them from forcing her to have an abortion

A pregnant 16-year-old is suing her parents to prevent them from forcing her to have an abortion against her will, a lawsuit filed in Texas claims.
The Houston teen who's nine-weeks pregnant claims her mother has threatened slipping her an abortion pill and that she is being punished at home to pressure her into aborting her unborn child.
The girl only identified by the initials of R.E.K. says her father has forcefully told her 'he was going to take her to have an abortion and that the decision was his, end of story.'
Defending: The 16-year-old's attorney, Stephen Casey, who's fighting to keep the girl's child says it is legally her own decision and that the Texas Center for Defence for Life has fought similar cases and won

That is an argument the Texas Center for Defence for Life, standing behind the teen in her legal battle, says is not the case.
'She is legally protected, they cannot drag her to get an abortion, force an abortion on our client,' the girl's attorney Stephen Casey told KPRC.

The girl further accuses her parents of taking away her cell phone, taking her out of school, forcing her to get two jobs and taking away her car to 'make her miserable so that she would give in to the coercion and have the abortion,' the lawsuit said.
She claims her mother had also '...invited the paternal grandparents to a bar for further discussion, where she suggested that she might slip her an abortion pill through deception.'

The teen's attorney says text messages sent by her father back her claims of coercion which her father denies telling KTRK he believes someone is putting his daughter up to the lawsuit.
Until a decision is made by the judge a temporary restraining order has been issued with the family due back in court on Friday.
The teen says she plans to keep the child and raise it with her boyfriend.
'What [Roe versus Wade] established is minors have the choice. And when they do make the choice folks are shocked that they want to carry the baby,’ Casey said.
He says the Texas Center for Defence for Life has fought similar cases by teens in the past and have won.
Under Roe vs. Wade a woman has the right to choose whether she wants an abortion or not.
Under Bellotti vs. Baird a teenager has the right to make her own decisions over her reproductive health.
