Bonkbuster queen Jackie Collins tells girls: Don’t jump into bed with the first man you see

    She may have made millions by writing sexually charged ‘bonkbuster’ novels – but Jackie Collins has told young women: don’t jump into bed with the first man you see.
    Despite her steamy reputation, the glamorous 75-year-old said that saying ‘no’ gave women much  more power over their lives. 
    ‘Empower yourself,’ she said. ‘Keep your boyfriend wanting more, but still have fun. Girls should make the rules and guys can still have a good time following them.’
    The chaste advice comes as  Ms Collins publishes her first book for a teenage audience, Confessions Of A  Wild Child.
    She said: ‘I wrote it for young adults, so I only allude to sex. My American publisher wanted to widen the audience.’
    But the book is not entirely a break from type, and she admits it still contains many scenes in which the main character – a young version of  Lucky Santangelo, the star of many of her explicit adult novels – ‘almost’ has sex.
    ‘A lot of girls are going to identify  with that, doing “almost”,’ she said. ‘“Almost” rules!’
    Ms Collins – who despite her raunchy image is a staunch believer in monogamy – also advised young  girls to dress more modestly, saying: ‘You have to be strong and confident.
    'I always say to women: Girls can do anything. And they can. But they have to watch it. They have to be proud of themselves, confident of themselves.
     

    'They can’t walk round looking like a hooker and expect to be treated like  an intelligent woman.’
    Ms Collins added that one of her next projects would be to write her autobiography, saying: ‘I’m opening with the line, “Don’t move you bitch or I’ll blow your head off.”
    'Which is what the guy said to me when I was held up on Sidney Poitier’s driveway. One of the guys put an Uzi to my face – which I’ve never forgotten
