Mother becomes first woman in Britain to give birth to two sets of twins all with the same birthday

A proud mother has become the first woman in Britain to give birth to two sets of naturally conceived twins who were born on the same day.
Kim Hefer, 29, was stunned when she gave birth to Devon and Logan on July 18 - the birthday of her four-year-old twin sons Tristan and Blake.
Kim and husband Freddie, 30, were expecting the babies on August 13 but were 'gobsmacked' when they arrived four weeks early.

The parents have been told it is the first time in Britain a pair of naturally conceived twin boys have shared a birthday with their twin brothers.
'When I found out I was having yet another set of twins at my scan I couldn’t believe it, we were gobsmacked,' said Kim, who is originally from South Africa but now lives in Little Paxton, Cambs.

Freddie, a financial manager for Deutsche bank, London, added: 'When we were trying for a third child and told we were going to have twins again we thought that was quite something to get your head around. But to have them born on the same day we both just couldn’t believe it.'
Big birthday celebrations to come: Kim and husband Freddie will have the throw birthday parties for both sets on twins on the same day
Kim had originally been booked in for a caesarean section on July 23 but was taken into at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Cambs, early when her blood pressure became high.
Doctors were concerned for her and the babies health so decided they should be delivered early.
Logan, was born at 11:50pm weighing 5lb 5oz, while Devon was born just a minute later at a weight of 6lb 30z.
Kim said she had hoped to have had the babies and be home in time for the elder twins birthdays, who had been born in South Africa - their parent's native country - on July 18 four years earlier.

First time around: Tristan and Blake were born in South Africa on July 18 2008

Instead, she now faces planning a joint birthday party for all four sons when the twins turn one and five next year.
'My house is a little insane at the moment but we were all extremely happy. Tristan and Blake are very excited about their new brothers and said they can’t wait to play with them. It is unusual, yes, and we believe this could be one of the only births of its kind in the UK,' she said.
'People stop me in the street to look at the babies and then they notice my two older boys and they are amazed. Then when I tell them they were born on the same day they can never quite believe it - I think it is always going to be one of those great family stories.'
Freddie added: 'We just never thought there would be any chance of it falling of the boys' birthday.
Band of brothers: The older twins meet one of their new siblings
'I’m excited to have four boys running around the house, I’m looking forward to seeing them grow up and play in sports days together. All four of my children are beautiful and happy and healthy I feel very lucky.'
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), quoted by the Twins And Multiple Births Association (TAMBA), the odds of any mother giving birth to twins in Britain is 68-1.
Once they have had a set of non-identical twins, the mother - whose genes determine twin births - has a 16-1 likelihood of having a further set of non-identical twins.

Keith Reed, chief executive of TAMBA, said: 'Having two sets of twins born on the same day is very unusual and I am delighted to see that the family's relatives are rallying around to help out.
'It is going to be hard work so they need all the support they can get, which will help to make it an incredibly rewarding and lovely experience.'
Rupert Adams, a spokesperson for William Hill said before Freddie and Kim had any children, their odds of giving birth to two sets of non-identical twin boys on the same day were a staggering six million to one.

Extraordinary coincidence: Logan, left, and Blake's birth certificates show they share the same birthday
He said: 'This is such an extraordinary story that it beats all statistics. If she would have come to us four years ago, whilst she was pregnant with the first set of twins, and put a bet on it she would have broken the banks. We would have told her it would never happen.'
He added: 'It is so rare. If it happens again in my life time I will be surprised. It is one of those freak incidents, we would struggle to put a price on, it is that impressive and different.'
