Graduates have less sex than non-graduates, new research has revealed (file picture)
Graduates often command higher incomes and higher-profile jobs than those without a degree.
But, new research suggests they lose out in the bedroom.
The survey shows those who missed out on university are more likely to have sex every day than those who have a degree.
Some 13 per cent of non-graduates have sex daily, compared to 10 per cent of graduates.
However, graduates are more risky between the sheets with two thirds having tried bondage with 44 per cent claiming to have enjoyed it.
In contrast, only 37 per cent of non-graduates have tried bondage.
While graduates are more likely to indulge in bondage, non-graduates are more likely to have had sex in the great outdoors - 77 per cent of non-graduates have had sex outside, compared to 70 per cent of graduates
And graduates tend to have had fewer sexual partners than non-graduates.
Some 27 per cent of people with letters after their names have had just one or two sexual partners, compared to 21 per cent of people without a degree.
According to a survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by the UK’s leading sex toy firm Lovehoney, non-graduates are more likely to have had a threesome than graduates.
Indeed, 22 per cent of people without a degree have had a threesome, compared to 19 per cent of graduates.
They are also almost twice as likely to rate their bedroom skills as top notch, with five per cent awarding themselves 10 out of 10, compared with three per cent of graduates.
And it seems that years of the studying leaves graduates tired – 75 per cent would rather their partner went on top in the bedroom, while a third of non-graduates insist on taking control.
A Lovehoney spokesman says: ‘Evidently non-graduates are far more into action than the written-word and are putting their spare leisure time to the perfect pleasure pursuit.
Some 13 per cent of non-graduates have sex daily, compared to 10 per cent of graduates - but graduates tend to have more risque sex with far more having tried bondage
‘As they make love more often, it makes sense they will go for more variety.
'Although the more educated types appear to put greater thought into love play – as the bondage statistics suggest.
‘Sales of our S&M products have shot up by 70 per cent since the success of Fifty Shades of Grey.
'Perhaps there are lots of librarians and teachers out there having a lot of kinky fun in their down time!’
The news comes just after it was revealed that high earners have much less sex than low earners.
Another study by Lovehoney found that just four per cent of top earners have sex every day - a figure that tripples for low earners.
The survey also revealed that a third of people who earn more than £50,000 a year only have sex once a week.
In contrast, just 17 per cent of those who earn less than £15,000 have sex just once a week.
