Five years after first cancer battle, MTV's Diem Brown reveals that she will lose second ovary to the disease

MTV Reality star, Diem Brown, who was treated for ovarian cancer in 2006, has just revealed that after five years of remission, the cancer has returned to her one remaining ovary.
The Real World/Road Rules Challenge contender, 30, had one of her two ovaries removed during the initial operation to remove a tumor comparing in size to a two-litre bottle of Coke.
This time around, the athletic and ambitious entrepreneur is racing to harvest and freeze healthy eggs before the final ovary is removed and she goes through premature menopause.

Though it sounds a bleak outlook, the Atlanta native is staying positive, telling Us Weekly: 'I pray to stay positive. It's not easy to put a smile on your face. But if you fight for that smile, you will beat anything.'
Having experienced pain last October, tests told her nothing was wrong, so when the discomfort persisted she blocked it out and put it down to gas.

In May, she asked for an ultrasound, too disturbed to ignore it any longer.
When the doctor found a cyst and expressed his desire to remove it, malignant or not, Diem begged him not to take the ovary with it and he complied.
Brave: The first time Diem had chemotherapy she lost all her hair and was so discouraged by her cheap wig she started a gift giving registry for medical patients called Med Gift

'A week after surgery, though' she recalled, 'my doctors called with those nasty little words: "We found cancer." I couldn't believe it.'
The first time Diem discovered she had cancer, she was three weeks away from embarking on her Real World/Road Rules Challenge as a new face on the reality show.
'I'm scared of dying, I'm 24 years old and I am not ready to die,' she admitted in a video shortly before commencing a gruelling schedule of chemotherapy treatment.
But despite her fear, the determined patient fought every inch of the way both on screen and off and earned huge respect from her fellow team mates when she bravely removed her wig during and revealed her baldness for the first time on camera.
The fighting spirit has only grown since then and now Diem is throwing herself into Med Gift, the charity she founded that invites donors to give towards hospital patients rehabilitation and treatment.
