The mobile a trois! How 20per cent of young adults use smartphones DURING SEX

Smartphone addiction has reached a new high according to recent findings which show how 20per cent of young adults have continued using their device during sex.
A study commissioned by tech company Jumio, which included 1,102 participants, revealed that this figure dropped to around one in ten for those over the age of 34.
Alarmingly, despite warnings and laws in most states 55per cent said they continued tapping away on handsets behind the wheel and 12per cent told how they masterfully juggled their cell in the shower.

More than a third said they continually checked their phone at movie theaters and 19per cent sneakily kept tabs on inboxes and social media sites during religious services.
Even when trying to woo a potential suitor on a dinner date, 33per cent couldn't bear to part with their tiny touch screen.

Meanwhile 32per cent of parents got twitchy fingers during their child's school functions.
Overall, three in four (72per cent) said they were within five feet of their mobile most of the time.

Researchers attempted to look at the negative impact of such addictive behavior.
In a larger survey of 2,021 phone-owners, many told how technology was 'cramping their love life'.
Twelve per cent of respondents in a relationship admitted their constant phone checking was a problem.
Almost a third (29per cent) said they had broken trust by 'snooping' on a friend or partner’s mobile to find information.

Commenting on the findings Marc Barach, chief marketing and strategy officer at Jumio, said: 'People view their smartphones as an extension of themselves.
'[They take] them everywhere they go - even the most unorthodox places - from the shower to their commute, from the dinner table to the bedroom.'
The U.S.-based 2013 Mobile Consumer Habits study was conducted online from June 13 to 17 by Harris Interactive.
