Watch out Martha Stewart! Ivanka Trump tries her hand at lifestyle with recipes for broccoli soup, rosemary lamb shanks and banana cake

Ivanka Trump is a designer, a mother-of-two and an heiress, and now it seems she is adding domestic goddess to her impressive repertoire.
The 32-year-old has begun sharing recipes on her blog, The Art of Ivanka Trump, seemingly following in the footsteps of original lifestyle guru Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow, whose Goop website has also established her as an expert homemaker.
The most recent menu, posted on Friday, features a delicious-sounding combination of broccoli soup, savory polenta, rosemary lamb shanks and banana cake.

Each of the recipes is illustrated with a picture of the finished product.
Whereas she typically shares pictures of her children or vintage fashion photos that inspire her, Ms Trump's recent recipe posts mark a distinct move into the food category.

Last week, she shared another recipe item on her website, this time for a Saturday lunch.
The recipe was for curry chicken salad, made with roasted chicken, water chestnuts, red grapes, almonds and apples.
Competition? Ms Trump seems to be attempting a foray into the food and lifestyle industry, a category currently dominated by 'rivals' Gwyneth Paltrow (left) and Martha Stewart (right)

With her mouth-watering recipes, Ms Trump seems to be attempting a foray into the food and lifestyle industry, a category currently dominated by Gwyneth Paltrow and Martha Stewart.
While the latter is largely considered the original lifestyle maven, Gwyneth Paltrow has proved to be a viable competitor with her website Goop, which features recipes, shopping ideas and travel guides.
Indeed, their similar business models seem to have caused something of a feud between the women.
In October, 72-year-old Ms Stewart said in a Bloomberg interview: 'I haven't eaten at Gwyneth's house, and I have never seen how she lives.

'But, if she's authentic, all the better - and I certainly hope she is. She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business.'
The business magnate said of the 41-year-old actress: 'She's a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter - fine. Good.'
She then added: 'I think I started this whole category of lifestyle.'

Savory Polenta

INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus extra for grilling or sauteing if desired
Three-quarters cup finely chopped red onion
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 quart chicken stock or broth
1 cup coarse ground cornmeal
3 tablespoons margarine (or unsalted butter)
1.5 teaspoons kosher salt
One-quarter teaspoon fresh ground pepper

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large, oven-safe saucepan heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the red onion and salt and sweat until the onions begin to turn translucent, approximately four to five minutes.
Reduce the heat to low, add the garlic, and saute for one to two minutes, making sure the garlic does not burn.
Turn the heat up high, add the chicken stock, bring to a boil. Gradually add the cornmeal while continually whisking.
Once you have added all of the cornmeal, cover and cover the pot and place it in the oven. Cook for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring every ten minutes to prevent lumps.
Once the mixture is creamy, remove from the oven and add the margarine (or butter), salt and pepper.
Serve as is, or pour the polenta into 9x13-inch cake pan lined with parchment paper. Place in the refrigerator to cool completely.
Once set, turn the polenta out onto a cutting board and cut into squares, rounds or triangles.
